CHRIST CHAPEL - CHALK HILL, PA
In 1874, Rev. A. H. Waters, superintendent of the Jumonville Orphanage, at the request of some area Lutherans, started holding religious services at a schoolhouse in Chalk Hill.  In 1894, a three-acre plot of ground was purchased.  A cemetery was laid out and plans were adopted for the erection of a church.  The church was dedicated on October 11, 1895.  The small white chapel, surrounded by oak trees, is located in the Laurel Mountains about seven miles east of Uniontown.  It is situated on the Chalk Hill-Ohiopyle Road, less than a mile from the village of Chalk Hill.  On December 7, 1969, Christ Lutheran Church, Chalk Hill, merged with St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Uniontown, PA and is known as Christ Chapel of St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

The Chapel has been a welcome addition to the parish, providing an inspiring and historic place for baptisms, weddings and funerals.  Each year Easter sunrise services are held at the Christ Chapel at 7:00 am.  Also, from Memorial Day weekend until the first Saturday in October, Saturday evening services are held at Christ Chapel at 7:00 pm.  All are welcome to this beautiful setting where we gather to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
